Mat Pilates 4 Class Series
Strengthen your back, engage your core and get a long lean look without bulky muscles!
Mat Pilates is a mind-body system of exercises. The methodology's mat exercises, which range from fundamental to advanced, are the foundation of the entire repertoire. Mat work is distinct from apparatus training because you must control your body weight against gravity. Focus is on the breath and working the core, as well as strengthening and stretching other parts of the body. Class will be concluded with a brief relaxation time.
Meditation Class
Feeling a little stressed and worn out from the holidays? Rejuvenate and gently care for yourself and start the New Year off on the right foot.
During this 90 minute class students will be guided through a few simple yoga poses (any age or fitness level can do these stretches) to gently stretch the body to prepare to comfortably move into a series of guided meditations. By creating release and comfort in the body your mind will more easily transition into a meditative state. While in these meditations students will have the option of being in supported restorative yoga poses or seated in a chair. The instructor will guide students to use their senses and the power of the mind to bring a sense of relaxation and release of stress and mind chatter. This is a basic meditation class – if you are new to meditation you will be guided on what to do, if you are experienced at meditation you can practice with us or use the quiet time to follow your own meditation. Our studio creates a warm, supportive environment in which to develop your meditation and we welcome you on your journey!
We have some blankets and props at the studio but you are welcome to bring your own bolster, pillow(s) and/or blanket(s) to support yourself in restorative poses.
Qigong Family and Friends Day
You, your family and your friends are invited to experience this gentle and powerful ancient Chinese practice. If you or a loved one are feeling pain, discomfort or stress, come and try either Qigong or the gentle touch of Qi-ssage.
